About Robbie

Robert Larimer, born, raised, and educated in Cambridge, has been serving families throughout the many unique neighborhoods of Cambridge and Dorchester County since the age of 14, when he first volunteered in 1994 with Rescue Fire Company, working his way through the ranks to Captain. He has been awarded throughout the years for saving lives, his leadership, and dedication to the people of Cambridge, including being honored by the American Legion for Meritorious Service for Loyal and Dedicated Service to the Citizens of Dorchester County as Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office “Deputy of the Year.”

A graduate of Cambridge South Dorchester, Mr. Larimer began his community service in emergency medical care and transport with the City of Cambridge Emergency Medical Services as a volunteer, focused on critical, life-saving procedures, coordinating with the physicians and firefighters for optimal outcomes in saving lives. This experience led to the field of emergency communications as a 911 Dispatcher, advancing to Communications Technical Specialist with the Dorchester County Department of Public Safety. At a young age, Mr. Larimer showed his entrepreneurial spirit, starting a computer/IT consulting business, and was recognized during the Youth Entrepreneur Awards by the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. His success led to a long association with the County, and participation in several multimillion-dollar Mission-critical public safety projects, improving the County Department of Emergency Service, including 911 and the Dorchester County Public Safety Radio System, a critical coordinating link among fire, police, emergency medical services, and other government agencies.

In 2007 Mr. Larimer joined the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Cambridge, Maryland, earned police certification at the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy in Salisbury, and was promoted to Corporal in 2018 and is now an instructor himself.

An advanced scuba rescue diver, Mr. Larimer is also certified as an Incident Commander under the Federal Emergency Management Association Incident Command System (FEMA ICS). This certification, essential for municipalities to receive federal funds for disasters, prepares a proven leader with advanced knowledge for expanding incidents, focused on resource management, Interagency mission planning and procurement, staffing and organization, transfer of command, and unified command functions in multi-jurisdictional or multi-agency incidents.

Mr. Larimer is a Little League Coach and his wife Jill is a school teacher in Dorchester, where their two young children attend school. Because his concern extends to every child and young person in Dorchester County, Mr. Larimer has appreciated the opportunity to work on school bus safety and underage drinking initiatives, and instructing teachers in ALICE Training to become certified in strategies to keep students safe in their classroom. Mr. Larimer sees the potential for a bright future for all of the people of Cambridge, working together as one community, affording every family a voice and an opportunity to contribute and thrive. He has the proven leadership to guide Cambridge forward.
